All the ships in the game are completely customizable, and new ship parts can be constructed using pre-built blueprints that the player can find throughout the game. Each ship, and its weapons, can be customized to the owner's individual taste with an easy-to-use interface. For example, a player can add a container to the bottom of a ship's hull to add extra cargo capacity, or leave a ship without any cargo at all. Players can make their ships really unique by adding a sail, running lights, or even an antenna for receiving navigation messages. Ships can also be repainted, and new engines can be added to increase their performance.
The game includes over 100 ship parts and over 3000 ship skins, and new ships and ship parts are added regularly. There are also a large selection of weapons, ranging from classic machine guns to rocket launchers. Combinations of weapons can be used to inflict maximum damage on an enemy. Players can also buy and sell parts and weapons to other players.
Ships are controlled entirely using the keyboard, mouse and a numpad. Players can select the targets for their missiles using the numpad, then fire them using the spacebar. Players can fire their guns by pressing the right mouse button, and they can steer using the left mouse button. Various voice commands can be used to select targets and navigate. The game comes with a large selection of ship skins which can be painted onto the ships using the Paint Editor. Each ship in the game has a selection of guns, missiles and engines, and the player will need to choose the correct one to target, and use the right weapon in the right situation.
