I am using Linux (Mandriva 2010.2 x86_64 and tried to install 2.5 beta for Linux. Install was simple, but when I tried to run blender I got the following message:./blender: error while loading shared libraries: libjpeg.so.62: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
I tried downloading the file libao2_0.8.8-5ubuntu_i386.deb and while installing it into my Ubuntu thinclient(T50) by using command sudo dpkg-i-force-all liabo2* or dpkg --force-architecture It says error loading shared libraries.
Refer to your distro's docs for the package name for that system. 64-bit systems, because of how Wine/POL works, will almost always need the 32-bit version of libraries used for Wine/POL. Multiarch system's with support for package management with mixed-architectures should check manually if this error is coming up (some distros put things in odd places or don't handle multiarch support very well.).
If I run cwebp-alt in shell I recieve the same message is in log:testing case: w at /nfsmnt/hosting1_1/c/b/cb70c92a-4223-4bdc-bdff-9445dc18a7ad/robime.it/web/wp-content/ewww/cwebp-alt/nfsmnt/hosting1_1/c/b/cb70c92a-4223-4bdc-bdff-9445dc18a7ad/robime.it/web/wp-content/ewww/cwebp-alt: /nfsmnt/hosting1_1/c/b/cb70c92a-4223-4bdc-bdff-9445dc18a7ad/robime.it/web/wp-content/ewww/cwebp-alt: error while loading shared libraries: libjpeg.so.62: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directoryoptimizer found
You see, in C/C++, a .so (shared object) is a compiled library file. It is called shared object because this library file can be shared by several programs. These generated libraries are usually located in /lib or /usr/lib directories.
First, keep in mind that the shared libraries may be used from other packages in some cases. If you were trying to run XYZ program and ABC program installs the correct version of the shared library, it may (or may not) work for you. You can give it a hit and trial.

On a new Ubuntu System this might lead to the following error: freeview.bin: error while loading shared libraries: libjpeg.so.62: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory. This is a common error on Ubuntu and can be solved with the following command: 2b1af7f3a8
