As noted above, this television uses the Mitsubishi's proprietary Plush 1080p to upconvert lower resolution signals to 1080p for display. HDTVs can display any video signal. For a 1080p HDTV, however, even the high quality 720p and 1080i HDTV signals being broadcast need to be reformatted in order to fill the TV screen with a sharp, clear picture that led to the creation of Plush1080p technology. Essentially, it scales the picture precisely, with minimal side effects. Currently, 1080i the most common form of broadcast HDTV signals for over-the-air, cable and satellite.
Mitsubishi has added several color enhancement features with the 244 Series including Tru1080p processing and 4D Video Noise Reduction. All Mitsubishi 1080p LCD HDTVs process 1920 x 1080p LCD inputs without any down conversion. What this does is that it delivers the full bandwidth of the incoming signal directly to the screen. Mitsubishi's 4D Video Noise Reduction further adds an extra dimension to picture performance by using advanced algorithms to filter video noise more efficiently yielding clean, crisp images. It upgrades and converts all incoming signals to 1080i (including non-HD signals of 480i or 480p) to achieve optimum picture quality from both analog and HD sources. Since high definition video is shot in 1080p, the LT-52244 presents those images as they were intended to be seen giving those images the true look and feel of 35mm and 70mm film. 2b1af7f3a8
